When using a real estate agent, you must clearly state your preferences (location, rent, room size, etc.). They will then show you rooms that match these preferences. They will not charge a fee for showing you around, regardless of whether you sign a contract or not. If you are shown a room you would like to rent, however, you are generally required to pay a commission to the real estate agent when signing the contract (usually equivalent to about one month’s rent).c.
