The hospital suitable for you will depend on the type and degree of your illness or injury. You should make it a habit to check the clinical departments, open hours, closed days etc. of the medical institutions in your vicinity.  It is also important to note that when you visit a general hospital or university hospital for the first time, you need to take a referral letter (patient referral document) from another medical institution such as a clinic. Patients without a referral will be required to pay a “sentei ryoyohi” (an additional fee for a first visit without a referral letter). (The “sentei ryoyohi”is not covered by the National Health Insurance.) The following service offers help in searching a medical institution that you can visit.81▍
