Security Trade Control - for Students Majoring in Science & Technology Security Trade Control regulates certain freight (*1) and technology (*2) in order for the countries around the world to internationally maintain peace and security, and is upheld by the awareness and action or involvement of each citizen. At Waseda, we have adopted the Waseda University Security Trade Control Regulations and the Detailed Regulations for Applying the Waseda University Security Trade Control Regulations in order to address this issue. At Waseda, we have adopted the Waseda University Research Ethics Charter which prohibits engagement in military research or joint/sponsored research with military-related organizations. However, even if your research may seem totally irrelevant to developing weapons, the materials/equipment/technology you handle may be used quite extensively and could be of“dual-use”. As a result, there is a danger that your research could be used to create weapons of mass destruction against your will.  In order not to bring about such situations, please keep in mind the following points.1. Do not export, send, or carry to other countries freight which is prohibited by the foreign exchange law. In addition, do not provide (orally during conversations or phone calls, via emails, written documents, CD-ROMs, or storage media, through visits to laboratories, or during private conversations at formal dinners during international conferences), in any country, technologies which are restricted by the foreign exchange law to be communicated to others.2.
