In other words, these function as “mini” police stations. Of all accidents that international students may be involved in, traffic accidents are the most likely. Tokyo has a high volume of traffic, with many cars and motorcycles. Around one hundred traffic accidents occur somewhere in this city every day. Foreign residents who are not familiar with Japanese traffic rules may encounter dangerous situations when walking along the street, driving a car or riding a motorcycle. Please be aware of traffic at all times. In principle, health insurance does not cover medical treatment for injuries resulting from traffic accidents. The person who is responsible for causing the accident will usually be liable for all medical treatment expenses involved and all other damages. If you are involved in a traffic accident, please be sure to contact the police at once, as well as your guarantor and the CIE immediately. It is important to verify who is responsible for the accident. If you need to go to a hospital due to an emergency (e.g., a traffic accident, sudden illness, etc.), you can call an ambulance by contacting the fire department. However, please do not call an ambulance unless you urgently need emergency assistance.99▍
